Hey neighbour,

School holidays are in full swing, and there's no shortage of ways to keep the kids busy, from mug painting in Marrickville to a hands-on cook-along at Little Chefs.

King Street Crawl takes over Newtown on Sunday with 250 artists across the strip, J-Song Karaoke Night brings anime and cosplay to the Dunkirk Hotel, and Colombo Social's Sri Lankan high tea is one to lock in ahead of time. Add a big weekend of live music across the Inner West, and there's plenty to keep you occupied.

Enjoy,
Seb

KING STREET CRAWL RETURNS THIS SUNDAY

Source: Reddit

King Street Crawl comes back for its third year on Sunday 12 July, and this time it’s bigger, with over 250 artists across 45+ venues the length of Newtown's main strip. There’ll be pubs, galleries and independent shops all opening their doors for the day. The last two crawls pulled more than 14,000 people, so expect a proper takeover on King Street.

New for 2026 is a ticketed headline stage at the Enmore Theatre, with Tropical F*ck Storm topping the bill alongside Winston Surfshirt, Human Movement and Miss Kaninna.

Everywhere else stays free with over 100 acts across the crawl's usual haunts, and names like Teenage Joans, RVG and PASH filling out a lineup with so much local talent that you could plan an entire day around it and still miss half the good stuff.

My advice is to pick two or three venues in advance and let the rest be a surprise.

PRO WRESTLING BODYSLAMS ITS WAY INTO ASHFIELD

The Polish Club has quietly become the Inner West's unofficial home ring for Australian Wrestling Superstars, and they're back in Ashfield on Saturday 11 July for another full card of pro wrestling. This isn’t a one-off either; the club has hosted everything from the crew's biggest annual Superslam shows to charity supershows raising money for kids' mobility equipment.

Expect the full theatre of it with championship clashes, feuds playing out in real time, and wrestlers who lean hard into the theatrics. Doors open at 6:30pm with the action kicking off at 7:15pm sharp, and it’s pitched as a genuine family night out rather than an adults-only affair.

If you’re looking to make a proper night of it, I’d recommend booking a table for dinner at Sto Lat, a Polish restaurant within the same building.
