Hey neighbour,

If you needed an excuse to lean into the last few days of winter, the Inner West has lined up an absolute cracker this weekend. From neighbourhood picnics under the stars in Summer Hill to a Harry Potter takeover at Olympic Park, there’s so much going on this weekend that I genuinely had to put my thinking cap on to figure out what made its way into this week’s newsletter.

Alongside all the fun stuff, there are also some new openings to check out, a huge lineup of live music, and some transport disruptions to be aware of. All of that and more below.

Enjoy,
Seb

PICNIC RUGS, LIVE MUSIC & GOOD FOOD

There is something magical about a neighbourhood coming together under a canopy of fairy lights, and Summer Hill is doing exactly that this Friday night. The Flour Mill Precinct is rolling out the picnic rugs for an evening of live music, cultural performances, and some of the best street food the Inner West has to offer.

Bring your family, your mates, and an empty stomach, and settle in under the lights from 4pm to 9pm. Everyone is welcome, so grab a rug and come say hello to your neighbours.

FRINGE RETURNS TO SYDNEY

Sydney Fringe returns this Saturday, kicking off a month of circus, comedy, cabaret and everything in between across venues right through the Inner West and beyond. If you're after a full rundown of what's on locally over the coming weeks, I'll be covering more on that soon, but the festival's opening night is reason enough to circle the date now.

Stanley Street in Darlinghurst will be shutting down for Fringe Ignite, a free street takeover that throws open the whole 2026 program across the day and into the evening.

There’ll be roving performers working the crowd from 3pm, with a stacked lineup running circus, dance, music and performance art back to back on the street's open-air stages. It's a free event that’s open to all ages until the evening acts kick in, and a great taster of what’s to come over the next few weeks.

BAR SPOTLIGHT
Ravenspur Saloon: There's a Southern Gothic-leaning bar sitting on Enmore Road with a unique charm that’s waiting to be explored. Dark timber, wine-red tones and a cathedral-style back bar create the moody atmosphere owner Taran Howard had in mind when he built the interior from scratch. If you’ve got this far, I appreciate you. Don’t forget to check directly with the venue before heading out, as events can and do change at the last minute.

Also, if you’re ever asked by an event organiser as to how you came to find out about their event, please tell them that you were sent by Under the Flight Path 💚

See you next week,
