Hey neighbour,
Grab a coffee and get comfortable, there's a lot to cover this weekend. Pyrmont Food & Wine Festival is on from Saturday, Jon Sopel is at Carriageworks talking democracy after Trump, and Sunday has a workshop in Summer Hill turning old jeans into homewares. Worth checking venue listings before you head out.
Enjoy,
Seb
FEATURED STORY
CALLING LAST DRINKS AT THE WILDFLOWER

Source: The City Lane
Ten years of genuinely exceptional brewing in Marrickville, and last drinks are almost here. Wildflower Brewing pours its final beer on Brompton St on 31 May, and if you haven't already been down to say goodbye, this weekend is a good time for it.
Founder Topher Boehm announced earlier this year that the brewery is relocating to a rural setting, which personally makes me happy that this is a chapter break rather than a full stop.
Wildflower beers will continue selling online and through domestic retailers after Brompton St closes, with Gold, Amber, and Good as Gold expected to stay in stock well into 2027.
For those who’ve acquired a taste for the local brew, you’ll be happy to hear that the cellar door will be open Thursday through Sunday, and Topher has committed to being behind the bar himself each Sunday until the very end.
If Wildflower's natural, local ingredients and ten-year run as one of the Inner West's most loved breweries mean anything to you, get down there before the 31st.

BUSINESS OF THE WEEK
COME FOR THE FOCACCIA, STAY FOR THE WINE

Lu’s Deli
I got to experience Lu's Deli in Newtown over the weekend, and everything from their service to their steak frites in a freshly made focaccia was chef’s kiss. The deli runs Tuesday to Saturday from 8am until 3pm, and Sundays until 2pm.
What makes this place special is that from 5pm on Thursday through Saturday, it transforms into a wine bar, trading focaccias for natural wine and a completely different energy. It's the same space, but it earns a second visit for this very reason. A deli by day and a proper Newtown wine bar by night. Worth putting in the diary for a Thursday or Friday.
